Subways in Anna Salai to be linked to metro stations, commuters to benefit

For providing seamless access to the commuters, 2 subways at Anna Salai would be connected to the Government Estate Metro Rail station.
It must be noted that one subway is present beneath Anna statue and other subway is located near the TN Government Multi Specialty Hospital. It is now said that once the work gets over in few months the commuters would be able to walk easily from one subway to other. This was as per the officials of CMRL. It was later mentioned by an official that the commuters using Chennai Metro Rail system or those using subways or both would get benefited with the merging.
The information collected is these subways would be linked to the concourse level of the Government Estate Metro Rail station. To guide the passengers, employees would be present at the entry of the station. It is said that the work on lining the structures would begin soon and would be finished in few months of time. Renovation of the subways would not be carried out but modifications would be done and after that connecting with the metro station would take place.
Information collected is sections of the subways would be closed without causing any issues for the public and it would be during the work itself. This was as per the Highways department sources. It is known that under the Highway department control of subways come under. The official finally spoke about how access to the metro station would be at a level lower than the subways.
