Posted on: 20/May/2019 10:44:59 AM
It was expected that the prices of diesel and petrol and other fuel will come down after the parliamentary elections. However, there have been no significant change on this issue and only some minor upward/downward revisions in the fuel prices. On the other hand, the very next day after the completion of the last phase of the parliamentary elections, there has been an increase in the petrol/diesel prices today (Monday, 20th May). This has led to great anxiety among vehicle drivers!

The oil corporations have been changing the petrol/diesel prices daily based on international price conditions Accordingly, the prices of  petrol/diesel is changed daily and sold.

In this scenario, as per the announcement released by the oil corporations today (Monday, 20th May), the price of petrol has increased in Chennai by 10 Paise per litre at Rs. 73.82 and the price of diesel has increased by 16 paise per litre at Rs. 69.98. This has been implemented from 6.00AM today.

During the phases of the parliamentary elections, the prices of the fuel either reduced or stayed at the same price. However, the very next day after the conclusion of the parliamentary elections, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by 10 Paise and 16 Paise respectively!  This has created a high level of anxiety to the public from all cadres such as vehicle drivers, farmers, traders and the common citizens!
