The state government of Tamil Nadu has announced that over some 50 degree courses of different faculties offered by some universities and educational institutions will not qualify for state government jobs.

The 60th ‘Balanced level council meeting’ of the Tamil Nadu, Public Service Commission (TNPSC) participated by the TNPSC Member Secretary and the Balanced level Council Administrators was conducted last month.

In this meeting, a decision was taken that certain degree courses in some faculties offered by some universities and educational institutions are not good enough to be considered as qualification for government jobs.

Subsequently, TNPSC requested the state government of Tamil Nadu to declare an order on this. The Tamil Nadu State Government, after scrutinising this recommendation, ap[proved the same and accordingly released a new Government order.

In this regard, the order mentions that the BCA course offered by Periyar University is not equivalent to the B. Sc. (Mathematics) Degree Course.

Similarly, the M Sc offered in Applied Science Microbiology offered by BharatiyarUniversity, Thiruvalluvar University, and Periyar University, the M Sc (Microbiology) course offered by Kamarajar University are declared as not equivalent to the M Sc (Zoology) course.

This Government Order mentions that over 50 graduate and postgraduate courses in different faculties offered by some universities and educational institutions are not good enough to be considered for government job opportunities.

It is worth noting in this juncture that the state government of Tamil Nadu, during last year, had declared 33 postgraduate courses are not valid for consideration for government job opportunities!
