Prospects of heavy rains in a few places in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of heavy rains in a few places in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, the prevailing high heat intensity will persist.

On Wednesday, 17th April, the temperature had crossed the 100 Degrees mark in 7 places! A maximum temperature of 106 Degrees was recorded in Tiruthani and Vellore. Salem recorded 105 Degrees.  Dharmapuri and Trichy recorded 104 Degrees. Madurai recorded 103 Degrees. Namakkal recorded 102 Degrees. Chennai Meenambakkam recorded 100 Degrees.

The official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre shared in this regard: There are prospects of the temperature shooting up by 2 to 3 degrees in a few places as compared to others. Especially, the temperature is very likely to shoot up in a few places in Thiruvallur, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Trichy, Perambalur, Tirupur, Dindigul, and Madurai.

A low-pressure zone is prevailing spread over the Central Maharashtra up to Kanyakumari ocean area via interior Karnataka. Because of this, there are prospects of mild to medium rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu on 18th April. There are prospects of heavy rain in a few places in interior TamilNadu.

As at 8.30 AM on Wednesday, 50 mm of rain was recorded in Kuzhithurai and Pechipparai in Kanyakumari district, Dindigul District and Kodaikkanal.
