Belonging to Rosacea family, apricots are also known by the scientific name called Prunus Armeciaca. Being small in nature and orange in colour, apricots have got thin skin with soft flesh. There is a large pit present in the middle of this apricot and this is inedible. The important piece of information collected is apricots were grown both in the wild as well as grown in the prehistoric times.

It is now said that more than 3000 years ago, original cultivation of apricots took place in India. Consumed directly or as dried form, these apricots are used widely in the preparation of juices, jams, jellies etc. Apricots have lots of fibers, vitamins like A, C, E and K plus niacin.
