In the latest Swachh Surveskshan ranking list, Chennai city moves many places higher

Residents of Chennai city must feel happy now for this piece of news. In the year 2018, Chennai city was ranked 100 in the Swachh Survekshan ranking is well known to us. The amazing information collected is Chennai city has moved many places forward in the latest ranking for 2019 and Chennai is ranked 61 now. This has been spoken highly by many now. Out of possible 5000 points, Chennai city has scored 3118 points now. This was as per the data released by the union ministry of housing and urban affairs.

The point is Chennai city has received national award for Fastest mover state capital category in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 ranking. It is worthy to mention here that under the service level progress Chennai city has scored 787 marks out of total of 1250 and in direct observation Chennai has scored 980 marks out of total of 1250. In addition to these in the citizens feedback, Chennai has scored 851 marks out of 1250.

A report from the central government stated that appropriate number of twin bins has been placed in all commercial places in Chennai city. The important truth is city of Chennai has been appreciated for the huge efforts taken in the last one year time to make it as one of the cleanest in India. An award for the fastest growth has been given to Chennai city among other cities having population of more than ten lakh. 

To spread awareness about cleanliness to the residents of Chennai, Swachh Rail Swachh Swachhta Saptah, a week long drive was held. The important piece of information is the Raja Annamalai Puram Residents Association had made a model to keep the streets free from litter through the efforts by the residents there.

It must be noted that under the category of service level progress, 100 percent of informal waste pickers were integrated with the urban local body. The point is civic body has already notified and enforced the solid waste management rules 2016. Chennai city received 90% marks for cleanliness levels of both residential as well as commercial areas.
