MCI approves 46 seats for postgraduate medical courses in government colleges

The Medical Council of India has approved 56 seats for admission of the postgraduate medical courses in government medical colleges.
There are 1250 seats available in the state of Tamil Nadu government colleges for the postgraduate medical courses such as MD and MS. There are 293 seats for postgraduate medical diploma courses. The Medical Council had already taken a decision to convert these diploma postgraduation medical courses into postgraduate medical degree courses.
In this situation, the state government of Tamil Nadu has requested the Medical Council of India to approve an additional 157 seats for the postgraduate medical courses. Out of this, MCI has granted approval for 56 additional seats.
Admissions will be conducted for these seats from the next academic year onwards. The higher officials of the Medical Council of India observed that out of the 157 additional seats demanded, 56 seats have been approved. Efforts will be made before the next academic year to get approval for additional 50 seats further.
