CM Comprehensive health insurance scheme raised from Rs 2 Lakhs to Rs 5 Lakhs

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy has ordered that the present Chief Minsters Comprehensive health insurance scheme for Rs. 2 Lakhs to be increased to Rs. 5 lakhs.

A notification in this regard mentioned that the Chief Minsters Comprehensive health insurance scheme was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on 11th January 2012 with the noble view to providing high-quality medical treatment to even the economically backward population. It has been functioning with good credit.

Under this insurance scheme, 1.58 Crores families have been provided with insurance cards. Until now, 26.96 Lakhs people have benefited to the amount of Rs. 5,133.33 Crores.

The public availing this Chief Minsters Comprehensive health insurance scheme put up a request the prevailing amount of Rs. 2 Lakhs must be increased for them to facilitate various medical treatments.

The Chief Minister reviewed and scrutinized this proposal and accordingly ordered this insurance coverage amount to be increased from the present Rs. 2 Lakhs to R. 5 Lakhs.

Accordingly, from 1st December 2018, the 1.58 family insurance card holders presently covered under this insurance scheme can now avail treatment in hospitals up to an amount of Rs. 5 Lakhs per year.
