BSNL Employees Union – to go on strike from 3rd December

Insisting on their 5-points demand on various issues, the BSNL Employees Union has announced to go on an indefinite strike from 3rd December leading to the possibilities of the essential communication link facility being disrupted.

Their 5-point demands include:

·        As per the Wage Revision Regulations, the BSNL employees are due for contributory pensions.

·        4G standards must be introduced in BSNL services.

·        Review must be conducted for the revision of the pension paid for the retired employees.

·        The controversial issues regarding the 2nd Wages revision must be resolved.

Insisting on the above, protests in several stages have been conc=ducted already.

Protest processions, Dharna, and fasting have all been already carried out on behalf of the BSNL Employees Union.

In this situation, the discussions conducted between the Central Minister for Telecommunications and the Employees Unions conducted on 24th February 2018 and certain promises were given. However, they have not been implemented so far. Because of the delay in carrying out these promises as well as the 5-point demand accepted by the central government as given above, as per the joint decision was taken by the Federation of the BSNL employees and Officers, they plan to go on an indefinite strike from 3rd December onwards,

The coordinator of the federation f the BSNL employees and officers unions, Parameswaran, explained regarding this issue that they conducted several protests in stages insisting on the 5-point demand. However, this remains yet to be solved. So, as the next stage of the protest, a decision has been taken to go on an indefinite strike from 3rd December.

As far the Erode district, 500 employees and 200 officers of the BSNL will participate in this indefinite strike. Thus, there is a possibility of BSNL telecommunication services being disrupted, Customer services will not function. Fresh connections, shifting of telephone, and re[airing activities will not be undertaken. Further, BSNL payments, recharging, and distribution of SIM cards also will not function.
