Though it is a holiday on 2nd November, the ration shops will function. The food and grocery items are sold at subsidised prices in the ration shops, these shops are closed during the 1st 2 Fridays of every month. Instead, the shops will be open on Sundays.
With the approaching festival of Deepavali, the number of customers buying items has increased considerably. So, it has been decided to keep the ration shops open on the holiday of 2nd November.
Though the state government has announced a holiday on Monday, 5th November, the ration shops will function on this day as well.
An official from the department of cooperatives and food explained in this regard that in order facilitate the customers to make their purchases, the shops will remain open during the holidays. Instead, the working staff of the ration shops will be given a holiday on another day.
