Avoid these habits that are not good for the taste buds

Inside our mouth is located tongue and taste buds are sensory organs present on this tongue. It is known that there are 4 types of taste namely sweet, bitter, salty and sour and the presence of taste buds help us to know about these tastes. There are tiny hairs called microvilli on the taste buds and these hairs send messages to our brain regarding the taste. It is amazing to mention here that an average person has got as many as 10000 taste buds and it gets replaced every week. As we grow older some of those taste bud cells do not get replaced. There are also few habits that might ruin our taste buds and we would not be able to enjoy the food.

These habits must be avoided as they are not good for our taste buds.

Avoid over eating:

Not many know that overeating could create negative impact o the taste buds. Over eating results in obesity and obese persons would not be able to identify different tastes when compared to other people having ideal weights.

Avoid smoking:

Smoking cigarette is harmful for the health is known. Our taste buds get affected by smoking as these cigarettes contain chemicals that irritate the taste buds and reduce their sensitivity.

Avoid excess sugar intake:

The sensitivity of our taste buds gets reduced when excess sugar is consumed by us. Hence it must be avoided.

Avoid intake of alcohol:

It is known that alcohol is anaesthetic in nature and intake of alcohol might have anaesthetizing effect on the tongue. Texture of the receptors gets affected by alcohol intake.

Avoid exposure to pesticides etc:

Our taste buds could be affected by the intake of fruits and vegetables that have traces of pesticides. The toxins like benzene and arsenic present in the pesticides could reduce the strength of the taste buds.
