For deepavali, TN would be operating 20,000 special buses for the people

Deepavali is very special festival and people celebrate this festival grandly all over India and especially in the state of Tamil Nadu. To celebrate deepavali with their family and relatives many go to their homes in native places. To help those people who travel to their homes to celebrate deepavali with their families, TN government has done this now. The Tamil Nadu government announced on Thursday, 11th October 2018, that 20000 buses would be utilised to operate special services for the passengers.

It was announced by the state transport minister, Mr. M.R. Vijayabhaskar that as many as 30 special reservation counters for booking tickets would be opened in 4 places in Chennai city. The services could be availed from 1st November till 5th of November 2018. The minister later spoke about the operation of total of 11367 buses from Chennai and about the operation of 9200 buses from rest of TN from 3rd November to 5th November. There would be as many as 4207 buses of exclusive services that would be operated from Chennai city and as many as 7635 special services that would be operated from other districts in TN.  It is worthy to mention that long distances buses to Thiruvannamalai, Thanjavore, Kumbakonam etc would be operated from Koyambedu and Tambaram bus depots.

K.K. Nagar bus stop could be used by the passengers for boarding purpose and they could go to places like ECR, Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram etc. The minister for transport later hinted about how an additional 30 buses would be inducted to the existing fleet of MTC in few weeks of time. He also specified the reason for the delay and spoke about few patch works that need to be carried out. People going to Koyambedu bus terminus, Tambaram(MEPZ), Poonamallee and Madhavaram etc would be surprised to see additional counters in these places.
