If you feel some stiffness and strange sounds in manual transmission of the car then the clutch will be the first thing to check and align properly. A worn out clutch may harden the manual transmission of the vehicle probably caused as a result of rust residue on disc and pressure plate. The total clutch positioning and transmission parts should be maintained in a way oriented to the original design to avoid any kind of slipping.

Finding the problem

If the drive line shows the right position then the issue might have popped out from two transmission pins that were missing from the total positioning. This shall tilt down the transmission troubling the passenger side of the vehicle. The input shaft in the transmission parts of the car might be heavily worn out owing to the cars age and maintenance leading to misalignment. Inserting a new dowel pin for the transmission will easily sort out the problem. Reassembling of the clutches and the servicing of all the transmission portion of the car may help you for obtaining optimal vehicle efficiency and longevity.

Adjustment tip

Before placing the clutch to its original position resurface the flywheel and install a new pilot bearing. Adhesive application to the threads of bolts before bolting the flywheel to the engine will easily fix the clutch transmission process of your car.

Cleaning the manual transmission clutch

Use acetone to clean the flywheel and pressure plate to ensure oil-free surface as the entire area doesnt need any kind of lubrication. Placing the disc up to the flywheel should be done with the correct alignment tool.

Check wear and tear of the clutch

Follow the same procedure for the throw out bearing on the transmission area. Inspect the entire hardware for wear and tear of the transmission machinery. Maintain the factory specified high quality hardware for effective working of the manual transmission clutch parts of the car.

Service manual

It is always recommended to check with the factory approved service manual before doing the clutch removal and installation procedure. Use only factory advises fluids in transmission and clutch release components. Proper dowel pins helps to ensure the bellhousing alignment, parallelism and concentricity of the vehicle.

Make sure you resurface the flywheel before installing a new clutch disc and pressure plate. This can highly improve the clutch disc friction for maximum holding of the flywheel and mounting parts of the car.
