After getting renovated under the Smart City plan, 2 famous parks reopened in Chennai

Natesan Park and Jeeva Park are famous parks present in the city of Chennai. The superb piece of news that has emerged out now is these two parks situated in T. Nagar were reopened by GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation after they were renovated under the Smart City Plan. An amount of Rs 5.21 crores have been spent on this renovation purpose.
On Wednesday, 11th July 2018, minister for municipal administration and water supplies, Mr. S.P. Velumani attracted the attention of many when he inaugurated these two parks in the presence of corporation commissioner, Mr. D. Karthikeyan.
On the famous Venkatnarayana Road is present this Natesan Park and it is now split into 5 sections namely Kurunji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal, Paalai. The people coming here would be surprised to see walkways fitted with railings and tactile floorings for the sake of visually challenged persons. The presence of lawn, playing area plus others like fountain, granite seating, exercise equipment, pebble pathway and solar based mobile chargers in this Natesan Park are simply marvellous. Access to parking vehicles is available for the visitors here. One important point to be noted is 40kilolitre capacity water treatment plant here set up by the corporation would help to reduce the dependence on the ground water for the maintenance of this park. An amount of Rs 3.54 crores was spent for the renovation of this park.
Located on the popular G. N. Chetty Road, Jeeva Park was also renovated and an amount of Rs 1.67 crores was spent for renovation. The features mentioned above in Natesan Park would be available in this Jeeva Park too now. There are many CCTV cameras present in this Jeeva Park and people coming to this park would be surprised to see the space for practising yoga also. A 10kilolitre capacity water treatment plant has been set up in Jeeva Park. It is now said that as many as 50000 users would be benefited by these two parks in Chennai. A resident of T. Nagar expressed his views about this renovation and spoke about how Natesan Park was renovated one and half years back and how the money has been spent to redo this park once again. He also spoke about how the public money is being wasted for renovation.
At the cost of Rs 22.72 crores, corporation has proposed to develop as many as 33 parks under the Chennai Mega City Development Mission in the future.
