Aadhar card usage - New systems to be introduced shortly

Posted on: 14/Jun/2018 4:39:26 PM
Presently, the corneas or the black part of the eye and the fingerprints are being taken as the main identity for Aadhar cards.

However, it has been found that frequent problems are being encountered in this method while considering certain important aspects such as old age, accidents, hard work, etc., in using Aadhar cards. Because of this, the central government was exploring the possibilities of including the face as one more important identity.

The Chief Executive Officer of the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), had explained in this regard:

The system of adding the individual’s face as another main source of identity is being introduced as an additional aspect to the existing procedure. He also indicated that face can be used as an extra identity based on the necessity.

It had been announced earlier that the addition of face an identity will be implemented from 1st July. However, considering that this implementation should be carried out in a smooth process without any difficulties, an extension of 1 more month has been given for this implementation.

He informed that until now, 121.17 crore Aadhar cards have been distributed in the country. He also mentioned that the verification of details of Aadhar cards are being carried out at the average rate of 4 Crores Aadhar cards per day.
