Free accommodation in government hostels of Chennai

Tamil Nadu government invites applications from the students from backward classes, most backward classes and minority communities for free hostel accommodation in Chennai. There are 14 government hostels in Chennai accommodating students pursuing undergraduate, polytechnic and ITI courses from different regions of the state.

The deadline for applying the free accommodation of government hostels is July 15, free living space and food are the main factors to encourage students doing their degree courses in Chennai and among the fourteen hostels five of them are women hostels.

An official statement from the Chennai district Collector, V. Anbuselvan, reported the annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh as the basic criteria for applying the free hostel facility admissions. The distance between the educational institutions and residence must be within eight kilometers and this norm doesn’t apply for female students said the official report.

The eligible candidates for applying this facility can receive their forms from the hostel wardens or the office of backward classes and minorities operating in the office of district collector. Applicants need not enclose community certificate or annual income papers at the time of application. Those documents should be provided at the time of admission for the formal verification.
