Large crowd of buyers at the Koyambedu Pongal Special Fair

Thousands of public keep gathering at the Koyambedu Pongal Special Fair as all the essential items for celebrating Pongal are available in a single place.
The Pongal Special Fair is set up in the Flower market complex of the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market. The special Fair will continue until 16th January.
A bunch of 20 sugarcanes is sold at Rs. 300 and on retail, sugarcanes is sold at Rs. 30 per piece. A bunch of ten (10) turmeric plants is sold at Rs. 100. On retail, a bunch of 2 turmeric saplings is sold at Rs. 20 to Rs. 50.
Samanthipoo is sold at Rs, 10 per muzham (arm length). Kadambam, kanakambaram, and jasmine are sold at Rs. 20 per muzham. 1 pumpkin (weighing around 5 kg) is sold at Rs. 70. 1 coconut is sold at Rs. 35. A wreath of mango leaves and Aavarampoo is sold at Rs. 10.
Arugampul is sold at Rs. 5 per bunch. A sheaf of banana is sold at Rs. 30 to Rs. 60. A tar (bigger bunch) of banana is sold at Rs. 300. Festoons made of coconut leaves are sold at Rs. 10 per piece. A single plantain leaf is sold at Rs. 5. The smaller size drum for children for the occasion of Bhogi is sold at Rs. 30 per piece.
As regards vegetables, mochaikkai and thuvaraikkai are sold at Rs. 50 per kg. Sweet potato and broad-beans are sold at Rs. 40 per kg.
On the fruits front, apple is sold at Rs. 120 per kg. Pomegranate is sold at Rs. 100 per kg.
Orange is sold at Rs. 70 per kg. Sweet lime is sold at Rs. 50 per kg.
