New currency notes of Rs.200 to be circulated in Tamil Nadu from 28th August

Officials informed that the new bundles of the currency notes of Rs. 200 denominations have arrived at the Chennai Reserve Bank of India. So, the notes would be released and distributed for circulation in Tamil Nadu from Monday, 28th August.
When enquiring the officials as to when the new Rs. 200 notes would be in circulation, they explained that containers carrying the new notes of Rs. 200 have reached Chennai. However, because of the recent successive holidays, it was not possible to distribute the same.
However, the new Rs. 200 currency notes would be distributed in circulation from Monday, 28th August. When the public visits the banks for cash withdrawal, the new Rs. 200 notes also would be given to them. It is to be noted that this is possible only for the persons who bank savings account holders. Individuals cannot directly approach the bank demanding these new Rs. 200 notes.
Further, there will be some delay in making the new Rs. 200 notes available through ATMs as some changes are to be made in ATMs to accommodate the release of the new Rs. 200 notes. Once this is completed, the new Rs. 200 notes would be available in the bank ATMs. Based on the demand, it is expected that additional stock of Rs. 200 notes would be released.
