Facility of the latest Information Technology in villages through ‘Amma E-Village’ project

The Chief Minister E. Palanisamy informed in the Legislative Assembly that the facility of the latest information technology would be introduced in villages through Amma E-village project.

As per the Regulation Act 110, the Chief Minister announced in the legislative assembly yesterday (Friday, 14th July) the various plans related to information technology, backward community, and the department of the development of the most backward and Minorities welfare

He informed that as per the Amma E-village project, one village in each district will be selected and the services such as the wireless hotspot, super-efficient street lights, distant education, and distant medical consultancy will be provided.

This project will be known as TamilNet. The funds for this project will be arranged through the public sector undertakings such as Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV and Tamil Nadu Electronics Corporation, and also through public and private coordinated efforts.

Under the economic development plan, the backward community cadre and most backward community cadre with an annual income of less than  Rs. 40000 in villages and less than Rs. 60000 in cities are given free land plots, sewing machines, and ironing boxes are being given every year.

In order to ensure that the maximum people benefit under this scheme, the limit of the annual income for both village and city residents in this group is being increased to Rs. 72000.

The annual income limit for the parents of the girls belonging to the most backward community cadre and backward cadre is being increased from the present Rs. 25000 to Rs, 72000 under the Village Girls Education Encouragement Scheme.
