Smart ration cards to be distributed from 1st April

The state government of Tamil Nadu has been working earnestly for removing the old ration card and procedure and replace with smart ration cards.
The state government has decided to commence the smart card distribution. The smart cards will be distributed on 1st April in all districts of the state except Chennai district.
Aadhar card particulars will be collected gradually from those who have not given it so far and then smart cards will be distributed.
An official from the PDS (Public Distribution System) explained that the final stages of distribution of smart cards are about to be completed. 10 Lakh cards will be printed daily. This activity is expected to be completed by 28th March.
The printed cards will be dispatched to all the districts in the state except Chennai district. From the respective district offices, the smart cards will be distributed to the ration shops. The public will be invited to gather in the community hall or school located near the ration shop and the smart cards will be distributed free.
As for Chennai District, the smart cards will be distributed once the R. K. Nagar, Tamil Nadu Assembly Constituency election gets over. New smart ration cards are being created in 5 different types. If the letters PHH - Rice is printed adjacent to the photo, all rations items will be given. If the letters PHH-A are printed, all ration items including 35kg of rice will be given.
If the letters NPHH are seen, all items including rice will be given. If the letters NPHH-S are seen, sugar would be given. If the letters are NPHH-N.C., no items would be given.
The new smart card will be in the shape and size of the PAN Card. On the front side, the government seal and the words. The Department of Food Items Distribution and consumers will be printed. Below this, the name of the family Head, his/her date of birth, the photograph, the code number, and the address will be displayed.
On the other side, the names of the other members the ration shop number, the year, and the secret code QR will be displayed. It will also carry the print, this card cannot be used for the address proof.
