Protest against Stalins arrest: Thousands of DMK cadres arrested

Following reports of Mr Stalin`s detention, thousands of DMK cadres have been courting arrest across the state.
The DMK leader was trying to stage a protest, when police attempted to arrest DMK`s Tiruvarur secretary Mr Poondi Kalaivanan.
The police had been looking for the DMK functionary in connection with the death of a school student in a road accident in Tiruvarur on Friday. Mr Stalin had reportedly demanded an arrest warrant or FIR copy before the arrest, and it was then that he had taken into detention.
Soon after the news spread, the DMK cadres all over the state made strong protest against the arrest of their leader.
In Tanjore and Tiruvarur, more than thousand party cadres have been detained during their protest. In Chennai, hundreds of DMK funtionaries staged road roko in Anna Salai. Chennai Mayor Ma Subramaniyan led the protest. In Thiruvannamalai ex minister EV Velu led the protest and later police arrested him.
DMK partymen in Salem, Dharmapuri, Krisjnagiri, Namakkal and Vellore also staged protests to condemn the state government for the arrest of Stalin.
