Annual Diet Rankings announced

The U.S. News and World Report has released the Annual Diet rankings. The rankings are based on recommendations by a panel of expert critics who scrutinise the most popular diet programs and rate them according to their ability to trigger short term weight loss, effectiveness for long term weight loss, protection against diabetes, protection against heart diseases, ease of compliance, nutritional completeness and general health risks.

Topping the list of the best diets to lose weight is Weight Watchers. First introduced in the early 1960s, the diet is based on points assigned for every food based on its ability to fill you up with the least number of calories. The diet believes that the more you eat food that fills your stomach, the less you will eat overall, and, therefore, the more weight you will lose. You may eat anything you wish to as long as you do not exceed your allotment of points. The Weight Watchers diet also topped the best diet for lazy people list.

The Biggest Loser Diet or HMR (Health Management Resources) topped the list for best diet to lose weight ASAP. This diet advises its user to replace regular meals and snacks for low calorie foods such as shakes, controlled meals, bars and hot cereals, and fruits and vegetables. You should increase exercise and reduce calories during a set period, normally six weeks.

The best diet for vegetarians went to Mediterranean food.
