Three more foot overbridges get lifts

The Chennai Corporation on Tuesday launched construction work on three foot overbridges with lifts.
Tamil Nadu Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan laid the foundation stone for the FOBs at the junction of Errabalu Street-Rajaji Salai; and at two junctions on Wallajah Road, near the Secretariat Complex and the stadium.
According to the Corporation, about 10,000 persons are expected to use the facility on Rajaji Salai daily. The busy road witnesses many commuters crossing the stretch to reach offices in Parry`s Corner and Broadway every 10 minutes during rush hour.
Of the three existing facilities, the FOB with lift on Nungambakkam High Road has a relatively better patronage. According to Corporation officials, about 800 people use the facility daily.
