IIT Roorkee confers Honorary Doctorate to Mr. Ajai Chowdhry, Founder HCL

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, one of Indias most prestigious technology institutes, awarded the Honoris Causa Doctorate of Science (D. Sc.) to Ajai Chowdhry, Founder, HCL and Chairman, HCL Infosystems for his remarkable contribution to the Indian IT industry ever since its inception and the thought leadership for the development of an unmatched ecosystem for IT products, computer hardware and software domain in the country.

The award was presented to Mr. Ajai Chowdhry on the 10th annual convocation ceremony of IIT Roorkee by Shree Ashok Bhatnagar, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Roorkee in the presence of Professor S C Saxena, Director, IIT Roorkee amidst distinguished science and technology luminaries. 

Receiving the award, Mr. Chowdhry said, I am honoured to receive the Doctorate of Science from an esteemed institute of this stature. The IITs provide a unique academic environment that fosters great thinking and creativity. They have done us proud by producing quality engineers and entrepreneurs for years and providing the right platform to showcase Indian talent and technology prowess across the globe

The Honoris Causa Doctorate by IIT is meant to acknowledge and felicitate distinguished personalities in the country who have made commendable contributions in the field of science, engineering, entrepreneurship and academics. The conferral of this degree on Ajai Chowdhry was finalised by the President of India, Senate, Board of Governors.
 
Mr. Ajai Chowdhry has been consistently contributing in building the brand India on the ICT world landscape and also pioneering the cause of developing the Indian IT industry. His vision to further expand Indian IT to developing economies has now made him one of the key voices for IT development.
