NIFT students protest fee hike

Students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) have taken to protesting after the Institute announced a hike in the fees for the upcoming year. Students from NIFT campuses all across the country are already protesting and their Chennai counterparts are the latest to join.
‘I submitted the four-year fee structure at the time of sanctioning of the loan, and this is becoming unaffordable’, said one student. Another student said, ‘Since the college is located in Taramani, we travel into the city to get materials at a fair price (an extra cost).’ Officials of the Institute say that as decisions like these are made at the head office in Delhi, they are awaiting orders from there.
