TISS uses ‘Silk’ as a case study

Silk portrayed by Bollywood actress Vidya Balan in the film ‘The Dirty Picture’ is now a case study at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. According to the officials at the Institute the character had shades that would make an excellent psychological and sociological study. ‘Though her character raised many eyebrows, everyone was awed by the way she carried it off’, said one official.
The actress is ecstatic about her performance being studied by the academia. ‘The Dirty Picture will always be amongst the films I`m extremely proud of. I found it liberating to play Silk, a woman who was unapologetic about her sexuality and the choices she makes’, she said.
