Security beefed up around Kudankulam Plant

In the wake of threats by the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy, security has been beefed up around the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. A prohibitory order has been imposed stating that outsiders will not be allowed within a 7 km radius around the plant. According to reports, 4000 police personnel will be keeping watch.
The activists plan on the protest to commemorate the second anniversary of the Fukushima Nuclear Plant tragedy. It can be recalled that major damage was done to the plant in Japan following a huge earthquake in 2011.
