As a low-pressure is to be formed shortly over the Indian Ocean, the weather bureau has informed that there are prospects of rain today (Thursday, 6th December).

The northeast monsoon rainy season has become active again. As depression zone formed over the Bay of Bengal 2 days ago, there were mild rains for 2 days in the northeastern districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai and Kanchipuram.

It has been informed that there are prospects of widespread medium rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Balachandran, explained in this regard that a low-pressure format which was prevailing over the region from Kanyakumari to South Andhra has now drifted towards the west and is located over Kanyakumari and Northern Kerala. Hence, there are prospects of widespread rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

In the Indian Ocean near the Equator zone, a low-pressure format is likely to be formed. So, the director warned that the fishermen must not venture into the sea until tomorrow (7th December) in the southwest region of the Bay of Bengal near the Bay of Mannar.
