Four year B. Ed. course introduced

In the B.Ed, courses domain, new 4-year B. Ed. Courses are being introduced from the next academic year. An order has been issued to the colleges to invite applications from 3rd December. ‘Education/teaching oriented courses such as B. Ed. And M.Ed. are offered throughout the country through the National Council for Teachers Education.

In Tamil Nadu, B.Ed. courses are conducted under the Teachers Education University.

Presently, out of the above courses, B. Ed. And M. Ed. are conducted for 2 years each. In this situation, the National Education Council has announced a new course of B. Ed. from the next academic year in which students can join straightaway after completing +2.

The teachers` education university vice-chancellor, Thangasamy, explained in this regard that the new 4-year B. Ed. course is being introduced from the next year when the students completing +2 can apply and join,

The universities and colleges which are interested in conducting these courses can apply online to the National Council for Teachers Education.

As all universities have different departments of faculty with the speciality in different subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Tamil, English, etc., a separate department/faculty will be set up for teachers education courses. The National Council for Teachers Education has given permission for this as well.

It has been announced that 5 member colleges under the Education University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu State Government will be opened.

Out of the above 5 proposed membership colleges for the 4-year B. Ed. course, 2 colleges would be opened shortly in Marudhur- Villupuram and Edappadi-Salem.
