Protests against burning garbage

Police officials have promised talks between members of 7 resident associations and the Chennai Corporation following protests against the burning of garbage in the Kodangaiyur Dump.
The residents of Sasirekamma Nagar, Krishnamurthy Nagar, Kannadasan Nagar and Rajarathman Nagar protested on Tondiarpet High Road on Sunday. According to a resident, For the past few days, there has been fire continuously. During nights, the smoke is causing poor visibility. We have staged several protests, but found no solution so far. We were told that a fire tender would be stationed there throughout day and night to put out the fire. But on Sunday morning, even the fire personnel refused to go in as there was no road.
