The corporation of Chennai is planning to regulate the vendors in Marina Beach soon

Marina beach is an important place in the city of Chennai and many people visit this amazing beach with their family and friends to relax. Sitting on the sands present in this beach is simply superb.

It is now confirmed that the sands on this marina beach are occupied by many illegal shops and these shops sell snacks, ice creams etc creating many issues to the visitors.

Inspite of many attempts by the corporation of Chennai to regulate these shops the shops continue to grow and this is an issue now.

It is really shocking and surprising to note that from 1700 shops that were present seven months back this place has now got 2000 shops and only 1400 shops were in this place two years ago. Rehabilitation of vendors was attempted but it was not successful as many vendors are not willing to move out from this place.

The latest news is the corporation of Chennai would start regulating the vendors once again in a month.  According to an official streamlining of these shops on the sands of Marina Beach would be carried out and these shops would be arranged into 8 rows. A complaint was submitted to deputy commissioner of police belonging to Mylapore and Triplicane.

One important point is vendors do not want to arrange in rows because of losing out the customers if they locate their shops closer to the water. A committee for the vendors would soon be set up by the civic body.

It must not be forgotten that in the year 2017 the vendors were placed in eight rows on the beach sands but it had resulted in more shops.

The poor quality of foods present in these shops is causing more concern for many people who visit this superb beach. As many as 1900 complaints were received by the food safety department in the last year.
