Prospects of rain today (16th March) in a few places in interior districts

The strong low-pressure zone which recently formed over the coastal Kanyakumari area has weakened further and developed into a low-pressure zone.
The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, informed that because of the above development, there are strong prospects of rain today (Friday, 16th March) in a few places in the interior districts of the state of Tamil Nadu.
Because of the low-pressure zone which formed over the coastal Kanyakumari area, a maximum rainfall of 20 cm rain has been recorded in Tuticorin District. This low-pressure zone has weakened.
The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre informed that the low-pressure zone prevailing over the Arabian Sea has weakened and drifted towards Lakhdiv Islands.
Though it has weakened, the low-pressure zone may lead to rain in the state interior districts of Vellore, Krishnagiri, Thiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Niligiri, Erode, Karur, Trichy, Ariyalur, and Perambalur in the next 24 hours. However, this low-pressure zone will weaken gradually.
