The setting-up charges for new electricity connections up

In order to manage the recently released increase in salary for the TANGEDCO employees, it has decided to increase the installation charges while giving a new electricity connection, development charges, etc.
TANGEDCO offers 2 types of electricity connections – low voltage and high voltage. While giving fresh connections in these 2 categories, numerous charges are being collected from the new customers. These charges include registration charges, electricity connection charges, meter insurance charges, and development charges.
Accordingly, the multiple charges for the 1st time electricity connection for a residence/shop for a single-phase connection are Rs. 1550. For a 3-Phase supply connection, it is Rs. 7450.
For the high-voltage connection category meant for large industries, the multiple charges it is Rs. 750 per Kilowatt Ampere.
TANGEDCO recently released the announcement for a 2.57 times hike on the monthly salaries of its employees. This will entail an additional expense of Rs. 1318 Crores for TANGEDCO.
In this situation, TANGEDCO has decided to increase the multiple charges for the new electricity connections.
An official of TANGEDCO explained regarding this that 20 Lakhs New Electricity connections are being given every year. While giving new electricity connections, a one-time multiple charges payment is collected.
For electricity usage, consumption charges are to be paid once in 2months. The present multiple-charges system was fixed by the Electricity Regulation Commission in the year 2004. Though several years have passed since 2004, the rates have not been revised until now.
However, in the present situation, expenses on all fronts have gone up. So, there has been an increase in the multiple charges for the 1st-time connections. A petition has been sent to the Electricity regulation Commission to get approval for this proposal.
