What to do if PAN card is lost?

Apart from being a prominent Identity Proof, PAN cards are also required to open a bank savings account and paying Income Tax.

What to do in the event of an inadvertent loss of PAN card?

PAN card is an alphanumeric digital code. So, even if the card list, the PAN card owners ID will remain. Thus, there is no need to apply for a fresh PAN card. It is enough to request a reprint of the existing PAN card. Thus, a new PAN card with the old number can be obtained.

However, in case of losing a PAN card, a complaint must be registered in the police station. This would ensure and prevent any possible misuse of the PAN card.

To get the reprint of PAN card, applications made to the NSDL.

Applications can be made on the website of the above institutions for getting a reprinted PAN card.

Select the option Reprint and corrections and fill up and furnish the personal data requested. Furnish the Aadhar card particulars. Then, submit the required proofs. The KYC system based on Aadhar card may be used for this purpose. Or the documents with the application can be sent by post as well.

In case KYC system is used, the reprint PAN card will be delivered to the address given.
