Air Deccan entered the air services industry in India on 23rd August 2003. It made its entry with a solid bang creating an impact and a new revolution. Ex-military captain, G. R. Gopinath from Bengaluru, set up Air Deccan. With sensational promotion offers, including Re. 1 flight tickets, the company grew rather quickly.

However, Air Deccan started encountering severe challenges and met with huge losses. During the year 2008, Kingfisher bought the shares of Air Deccan and subsequently changed the Air Deccan logo. Air Deccan flight services were withdrawn in 2012.

So, Air Deccan remained out of action from 2012. Now, the information is gathered that it is all set to start again.

As it was used to offering low-priced flight tickets, it is learned that it will start the offer of Re.1 flight tickets again.

It is informed that with this Re. 1 flight ticket scheme, the lucky ones out of the first few persons who bought these tickets will benefit. It is also gathered that Air Deccan has a few long-range plans as well.

Gopinath, the founder, is all set to be in charge of the company again. It is informed that the flight services of Air Deccan may commence again from 22nd December.

Flight services to different destinations will be introduced from January. The first flight service will be from Nasik to Mumbai. Air Deccan has decided to fix this flight ticket at Re. 1.

Air Deccan will resume its services with the motto ‘Even the economically backward can fly’.

The new logo of Air Deccan will be based on the famous cartoonist R. K. Laxman’s drawing.

G. R. Gopinath informed that the plans initiated and devised by the central government to facilitate `that even economically backward sections of the society can fly` inspired him to go ahead and set up Air Deccan.
