Depression zone formed - prospects of rain for next 2 days

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that a depression (low-pressure zone) has formed over the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, there are prospects of light rain in the next 2 days in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, explained that a low-pressure zone has developed over the central Bay of Bengal region. This is expected to intensify into a very low pressure-zone in the next 24 hours and will drift in the Northwest direction in the region between Odisha and North Andhra and will cross the coast on the 19th October morning.

Though there may not be any prospects of direct rain in Tamil Nadu on this development, there are still prospects of light rain for the next 2 days in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Chennai Metro city will be generally remaining cloudy. There are prospects of mild rain in a few places in the city.

There are prospects rain with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to the formation of strong cyclonic winds.

The low-pressure zone formed over the Central Bay of Bengal will intensify and will clear the coasts between Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh on 19th October. However, Tamil Nadu will not be affected by this.
