Truck owners and operators are on strike

Today, a 36-hour nation-wide strike has started. Showing their protest against the policies under Goods and Services Tax, and wanting to include diesel under the indirect taxs ambit, all the truck owners and operators are showing their protest with the strike.
Due to this token strike, it is likely that commodities supply including that of food products are likely to get hit. After GST, the transport trade is critically impaired. The All India Motor Transport Congress and the other transport associations had said that this 2-day nationwide strike will start at 8 a.m. on 9th October 9 (today) and will continue till 8 p.m. on 10th October (tomorrow). Prabhat Kumar Mittal, the President of Calcutta Goods Transport Association informed the same to the reporters.
