In a push to give increased focus towards Indian languages, Oxford University Press had recently launched Tamil and Gujarati online dictionaries following which it is now the turn for the Hindi version of the dictionary.

The initiative for Oxford Global Language started in September 2015 aiming to create dictionaries and lexicographical resources to about hundred world languages and take it online for easy usage.

With this program, Oxford intends creating better experience to millions of people across the world by making the content available digitally on sites and apps.

Judy Pearsall, the Director of Oxford Dictionaries said OGL has an initiative by Oxford University Press for creating better challenge and improved opportunity.

Across the globe, digital communication is primarily observed in English and other prominent languages which are Chinese and Spanish. Now is a critical time to create a huge impact in language diversity and viability. More languages are being developed on OGL and Indian languages are being given improved focus.

There is significant linguistic landscape in India and it has rich history across the other places in the planet. Hardly about 35 percent of Indian population surfs the internet. This mission by OGL is believed to help digital communication by setting up resources in world’s languages, making things more effective to refer and read.
