Archaeological Museum to be set up in Keezhadi

The Madurai Branch High Court has ordered for a museum to be constructed in Keezhadi.

On behalf of the state government, it was informed to the high court that a land of 2 acres has been reserved for this.

It was further informed that the Archaeological Department has also agreed to set up the museum.

Subsequently, the Judges Selvam and Adhinathan released an immediate order for setting up the museum in Keezhadi in the allotted land.

Earlier, some cultural items of the ancient Tamil people were traced in Keezhadi, Sivagangai District. Following this, an advocate, Kanimozhi filed a petition in the court regarding setting up a museum in Keezhadi.

This came up for enquiry today (Friday, 23rd June. The judges enquired about the nature of items which were found. and also whether activities to secure, arrange, and organize them is in progress.

The Judges observed that only if the items found were displayed to the public, an awareness about this will be created. They mentioned that setting up a museum in Keezhadi will provide one more avenue for the world to know about Indican culture.

The judges commented that the media are doing the service of protecting the Tamil culture, So, the complaint of the central government advocate is not valid. They adjourned the case to 24th July.
