Metro water officials prevented possible road cave near Gemini flyover

Posted on: 23/Jun/2017 4:21:17 PM

The possible road cave that was likely near the Gemini flyover is fortunately prevented with the smart move of metro water officials.

There was a manhole observed on the Nungambakkam High Road. On observing that the manhole was prone to get caving in, this, the metro water field engineers dug up the arterial road. This caused heavy traffic on the flyover.

For more than a week, the Nungambakkam High Road will continue to remain congested, say metro water officials. The repair works may go on for 10 days. For carrying out the repair works, about 10/6ft segment of the road is cordoned off. This will be close to the front side of The Park hotel on Nungambakkam High Road.

Last April, when the road caved-in close to thousand lights mosque, a bus and a car were pulled in. This incident was close to Gemini flyover caused by tunnel boring work done near Chennai metro rail workers nearby. In the same area, there was a cave-in close to Church Park School on 30th March.

It took more than a week for finishing repair works when a crater-size motorcycle wheel was developed on the Lake View Road close to Adambakkam police station.
