For the students set to enter +2 this coming academic year, the public examinations system will remain the same as per the last year, with 1200 as total marks. This was informed by the Director of Tamil Nadu Government Examinations Board.

The state government of Tamil Nadu has announced that a public examination will be conducted for the +1 students in the coming academic year 2017-18.

As per the revised examination system, the total marks for each subject in +1 and +2 classes will be reduced to 100 in lace of the present 200. So, the aggregate will be 600 instead of 1200.

Thus, both +1 and +2 public examinations will be conducted for a total of 600 marks each. An integrated mark certificate will be issued covering the performance in both +1 and +2 public examinations at the end of the +2 examinations (results).

With the announcement about the public examination for +1, there are doubts regarding the students going to +2 this year after completing +1 as to whether the total mark for their +2 public examination will be 600 or 1200.

The director of the state government examination board explained regarding this:

It is clear that for the students who have completed +1 and going to +2 classes this year will have public examinations system with a total of the existing 1200 marks.

Only for the students who will join +2 next year will have the public examination for the total of 600 marks.

These students will be issued an integrated mark certificate combine the performance in +1 and +2 public examinations for totals of 600 each.
