Govt in spree to survey unapproved plots

Posted on: 24/May/2017 2:41:24 PM
As a move to collect a database of all unapproved plots ahead of regularizing all of it, a massive project to identify such plots is currently on. The deadline for this project is set as 27th May, as per instructions by the department of housing and urban development.

In addition to identifying unapproved plots, encroachments on unapproved lands and water bodies will also be figured out.

We can easily get to know about the availability of land for open source reservation in this layout and to develop public facilities including roads.

According to government rules, about 55 percent of land that are proposed for housing layouts need to be reserved for OSR, roads and parks for children. The promoters who are developing unapproved layouts are  violating regulations by changing all the vacant lands into housing plots.

When about one-third or two-third of the land is sold, government intervention to reserve the space for public facilities may be there. Complete information about unauthorized layouts is essential, say officials.

There are at least 25,000 unapproved layouts in the state, say government authorities. Nevertheless, we can obtain a clear picture only on compiling all data from various districts.
