TN government: Mobile number must be given in e-service centres

The state government of Tamil Nadu has announced that all customers intending to use the state government e-service centres must furnish their mobile number and register the same.

A brief on the press release on this:

There are more than 10000 e-service centres operating in the state due to the joint efforts of Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation, Primary Agricultural Loan Corporations under the supervision of the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu.

The e-service centres provide income certificate from the revenue department, caste, residence and other certificates and the services pertaining to the social welfare financial assistance schemes. Further, electricity bills, MWSSB water bill, and property tax can be paid in the e-service centre.

The state government has been taking various measures to provide quick services to the public.

As a further step, the registration of the mobile number of the customer has been made compulsory with effect from 2nd May.

So, when a customer visits the e-service centre for the 1st time, he/she has to carry the personal mobile phone. They have to furnish the mobile number to the computer operator and register the same.

Once this is done. SMS will be received giving the details of the applied services, application number, and the service charges, etc. To know the latest status of the application sent, SMS can be set to 155250.

When the application is scrutinised and the certificate is made ready, the registered cell number will be contacted. SMS will be sent as soon as the certificate is ready. The public can use the internet to see their certificates.

So, it has been announced that the public always needs to carry their mobile phones while visiting the e-service centres.
