NET to be conducted in July

A pass in the NET (National Eligibility Test) is required for the candidates to apply for the posts of the junior researcher or assistant professor in various universities, colleges, and research institutions.
NET is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) twice a year in July and December.
However, this year, CBSE approached the central ministry explaining that due to the various emergencies, it is not in a position to conduct NET.
Because of this, there was an uncertainty as to whether NET would be conducted this year.
However, UGC (University Grants Commission) has announced that NET would be conducted this year and CBSE would organise the same.
The reliable sources inform that this arrangement is likely to continue till a new Centre - NTS (National Testing Service) is set up by the central government for the exclusive purpose of conducting examinations.
UGC has further announced that CBSE would release a separate announcement regarding this.
