MWSSB: water line would be cut off if drawing through electric motor pump

MWSSB (Chennai Metro Water Supply Sewage Board) has warned that the waterline would be cut off from any house if is found the water is pumped from the pipeline through electric motor pumps.
A brief on the press release by MWSSB in this regard
MWSSB Managing Director Arun Roy emphasized the Board officials to make inspection visits to certain areas where complaints were received that the Metro water is pumped through electric motor pumps from the pipeline.
Following this instruction, MWSSB officials undertook inspections in Villivakkam area in 3 houses located in Bajanai Kovil Street and found the MWSSB water was being pumped from the pipeline with electric motor pumps. Immediately, the water line to these houses was cut off.
If the public indulges in such illegal operations, the water-line would be cut off. To get reconnection, they have to pay a penalty of Rs. 10000/- and a reconnection fee of Rs. 5500/-.
