Tamil Nadu DGP and Chennai Police Commissioner to retire this year

6 IPS officers including Tamil Nadu DGP and Chennai Police Commissioner are retiring this year. There is stiff competition prevailing for these posts.
263 IPS officers are allotted to Tamil Nadu service. As on 1st January 2016, 223 IPS officers are working in Tamil Nadu. The superannuation date for an IPS officer is 60 years. Accordingly, Tamil Nadu DGP TK Rajendran will be retiring this June. DGP K Radhakrishnan who heads Civil Supplies CID will be retiring during the month of July. Chennai Police Commissioner S George will be retiring on September.
Deputy inspector-general of police M Ramasubramani who joined the Tamil Nadu Police Service was later on conferred with IPS. He will be retiring during the month of May and R Thirugnanam IPS will be retiring during the month of March.
If the state government wishes, it can extend the services of law and order DGP by 2 years. Earlier DGPs Ramanujam and Ashok Kumar were given 2 years service extension. As of now T K Rajendran DGP is holding additional charge of law and order. Hence T K Rajendran, Chennai Police Commissioner S George and K P Mahendran DGP Training are aiming for this post before retiring.
Similarly ADGPs S.R.Jangid, IPS, ADGP Law and Order J K Tripathy and ADGP C.K. Gandhirajan are aiming for the post of Chennai City Commissioner. Archana Ramasundaram who was in Tamil Nadu services is now on deputation in central government. She will be retiring during the month of October.
