Tirupathi temple: Darshan tickets to cost double

A special committee was formed on behalf of TTD (Tirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam) to review the issue of revising Darshan ticket charges.

This committee reviewed and made its recommendations.

The Endowment Trust Board has decided to implement these recommendations.

In the next TTD board review meeting the revisions will be implemented and will come into effect immediately.

The increase in Darshan tickets recommended by the committee with the existing Darshan ticket rates in brackets:
  • Suprapatha Sevai  - Rs. 400/- (Rs. 150/)
  • Thomalai Sevai -  Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 220/-)
  • Archanai - Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 220/-)
  • Ashtathal Padha Padmaaradhanai sevai - Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 1250/-)
  • Sahasrakalasa Abhishekham - Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 850/-)
  • Thiruppavadai - Rs. 1500/-  (Rs. 850/-)
  • Pura Abhisekham -  Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 750/-)
  • Nija Padha Dharisanam - Rs. 500/- (Rs. 200/-)
  • Vasthra Alankara Sevai -  Rs. 25000/- (Rs. 12500/-)
  • Shasratheeya Alankara sevai - Rs. 500/- (Rs. 200/-)
  • Vasantha Utsavam - Rs. 500/-  (Rs. 300/-)
  • Kattana Brahmitsavam -  Rs. 500/-  (Rs. 200/-)
  • Kalyana Utsavam -  Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 1000/-)
Firther, Sudharshana Darshan Ticket is revised from Rs. 50/-to Rs. 100/-. Rs. 300/- ticket will now be Rs. 400/-. Rs. 500/- VIP Darshan ticket will now be Rs. 800/-.

A TTD official explained that the Darshan Ticket charges had not been revised since 1998. In order to restrict the crowd of devotees, this revision is warranted. With this revised rates, TTD will earn a yearly additional revenue of Rs. 50 Crores.

The special committee had also recommended upward revision of the price of Laddus. However, the Endowment Trust Board rejected this.
