Police security for Saidapet bridge

Due to pounding rains in Chennai, the Chembarambakkam Lake which had the capacity of 3,645 million cubic feet filled up fast in very few days. Hence 10,000 million cubic feet of water were released. Because of this the Adyar River was flooded. The huts near the river banks in Saidapet, Theeder Nagar and Atrumanagar were submerged in water.Though 5,000 million cubic feet water release is stopped per second, the force of the water is uncontrollable.
To see the flooded water, people are storming to watch it.
Since the water is raising in this bridge, police personnel have been deployed over the bridge to protect the people. The police are not allowing vehicle to stop over the bridge. Police are warning the people who are using the footpath of the bridge.
A high police official while speaking about the security said, many people who came to see the floods have lost their lives in Tamil Nadu. The river is now in dangerous situation, So we have police for 24 hours for the security of people.
