104 Free Medical Service completes 1 year!

Tamil Nadu State Government commenced the ‘104’ medical service on 30th December, 2014 in order to provide self-confidence for healthy life, consultation, information, and mental & physical health related issues and to make complaints regarding medical services.

On the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of 104 service, the 104/108 service awareness Manager, Mr. Prabhu das, informed that the facility to make complaints on 104 service is available only in the state of Tamil Nadu. Also, the departments takes effort to solve the problems in each complaint.

The calls received on 104 service is processed by 54 employees working round the clock.The medical servants of all primary health centres and the office of the Director of Medical Services have been given 2611 cell-phones fitted with CUG connections to contact 104 services. This facilitates the various complaints received to be attended by contacting all levels of medical servants.

104 service can be contacted for providing emergency medical attention to senior citizens staying alone in houses and to facilitate persons who undertake travels to have medical attention at the places of their visit.

WHO’s (World Health organisation) details regarding any epidemic of infectious diseases and its awareness can be heard through 104 services.

There were 8,25,294 calls received during this 1 year period.

3,12,175 individuals benefited through this service.

104 service acts as a bridge linking the public with medical service providers. More efforts are being taken continuously to improve and enable more people to use the service!
