Grand celebration of Deepavali today in Tamil Nadu

Deepavali is being celebrated today in Tamil Nadu with the usual cheer and the grand tradition of the oil bath, new clothes, burning firecrackers, and the special sweets and savouries.

As per the mythology, Deepavali is celebrated on the day when Lord Vishnu (God of protection), is reincarnated as Lord Krishna (one of the 10 Avatars of Lord Vishnu). Killed the demon Narakasura whose final wish was that this day should be celebrated by the Hindus.

The special formalities On the day of Deepavali, people get up earlier than usual, take oil bath, wear new clothes, take the special sweets and savouries prepared for the occasion, and then burn the firecrackers.

As such, this years Deepavali is being celebrated today with great enthusiasm and cheer.

Today (Wednesday, 18th October), the cheer and enthusiasm of the festival picked up right in the early morning and the tempo of celebration has been picking up.

People of all age group enjoy burning sparklers, fancy-wheels, flower-pots, and rockets with great enjoyment and cheer,

On this festive occasion, special pooja have been arranged in the Chennai city temples Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple, Thiruvallikkeni Parthasarathy temple, and Vadapalani Murugan temple.

People, after completing the special morning session, are visiting the temples with their entire family and offer special prayers.

With great cheer and enthusiasm, the people offer greetings of the occasion to their near and dear in person or over the phones.
